On my way to work today, I set off on a journey which is quite distant and very far away from the times we live in today. Away from these times where no one is focused on making money!

Today I set off on a journey with my good friend “History”.

History is a hated subject nowadays and many times have I heard, “This subject is boring!” also “What do I have to do with all this history and why do I have to know it?!” and sometimes, “Why should I care about a bunch of people who fought or died or even built something?!”

Sadly this is how we look at history with a look of refrain - but why?

History is simply our stories as human beings with time and those who don’t appreciate history can’t realize that they will not be able to understand life.

Have you noticed that if you pass by a certain situation and you got hurt emotionally for example - what do you do? You go back and review your action and keep it centered in your mind viewing this past action to learn how not to fall into the same situation, which means this situation is now our past, it is our history. We use history so why refrain from it?

History might have a problem in how it is presented in books or study material but history isn’t books! It’s stories and that’s what many fail to realize!

If you look at the history of your country or even your family and you can comprehend how life was in the past and you look at their status now, you wouldn’t be startled and funny enough you might find the answer and solutions to problems of your current life maybe not all of them or directly but you realize the problems and understand their roots.

If you go to a doctor the first thing they do is ask you questions about your past to be able to analyze you, therefore history helps in healing as it explains today and gives a glimpse about tomorrow.

I see in history a story, an adventure but with me the adventure takes the form of a dream where I can travel through time and scent the dust of time and see the eyes of the past and read in them the confusion of today and the mystery of tomorrow.

If you want to know who you are today, try to see who you were yesterday. Your actions in your past are what made you today which will become history because you will create a future.

History is not your birthday or a set of numbers and dates. History is the life of millions of human beings across thousands of years.

In order to develop, you have to realize who you were - to make what you will be.
